OOC: I intend for this to be as much like a writen story as possible. Heck, maybe we'll publish it. (Yeah, right... :-) )

Beep. Beep. Click. Beep; beep; click. Beep, beep, click. Beep beep click. Ugh, not again... He awakes to the sounds of his alarm clock pushed ever more forcefully into his mind. He lies in bed for a moment, thinking, asking himself what the new day may bring, if anything at all; doubtful it would be anything major. He jumps down the stairs, two, three at a time, and heads straight for the fridge. he opens it, sees as little as he expects to, and closes it. He stands there for a minute or so, sighs, and heads off to his first class to wait patiently for everyone else, waking nobody else on his quiet trip through his front door.

He practices some sword-fighting moves: parries and lunges and everything else against the dummies. Other people show up, and he duels them. He needs as much practice as he can get; his test is soon, and he knows how practical this kind of thing can be. After a while, he picks up his preferred longsword instead of the rapier he had been holding. He starts practicing slashing moves instead of piercing; this test is soon, too, and he knows how practical this kind of thing can be.

It is his test day. He fights the teacher, he loses, and he passes the test. He has performed well enough for a first-year student. He heads off to his second class. This is much preferrable to the first: thievery.

This sort of material is commonly taught in this sort of school: Zardaaki Adventurers' College. Sure, it sounds corny, he often thinks to himself, but I know how important this will be. I know that this is the only way to make a name for myself in a place like this.

His teacher arrives, he learns some of the stealthful methods offered, planning to learn the rest when he masters these. He knows that there is no set test for this class, but that there is a test. He manages to figure it out.

That night, he steals about 500 platri from his teacher's room. He offers it back the next day, embarrassing the teacher in front of the whole class. Another good grade for him.

He wanders off to his third class, a mixture of mind-meddling magics. He can't understand half of the stuff they learn here, but he doesn't mind. No test here. The teacher claims the only way to test your power is by using the magic in real life, and he doesn't want to get hit with any stray bolts of wisdom-draining energy, so he lets them off the hook.

The classes just go on and on in this fashion, sword, sorcery, and everyhing in between. He sighs. Figures. Just another regular day. Why doesn't anything interesting ever happen to me? Even just once? He has no idea what's coming.

OOC: Feel free to join in with anything that could relate to this world and continue it as if it were a book. For reference:

  • Weapons/defense technology: c. medieval times
  • Practical technology (e.g. computers, refrigerators): near future (i.e. within about 50 years of now)

I will try to explain the title soon. How long this will take will depend on how many people join, how much they contribute, and what they contribute. So contribute!

Parry, parry, thrust... Why must we practice such silly swordplay? Her eyes focus on him. She sees him concentration deeply on the task at hand. He seems to excel at it, yet he could barely cast a silly charm on one of the lesser creatures The wooden sword smacks her outter thigh.
"Ouch," she massages the red mark, hoping the dull pain would discontinue.
"Daydreaming again, you may excel at your spell classes but that doesn't mean you can go breezing through mine," the teacher scratched his head in puzzlement of the young girl before him. Her entire blood line was full of purely melee types who never seemed to be able to distinct a disarming spell from an enchancement, let alone able to cast one. She resembled her father so much, yet was his exact opposite.
She knew what he was thinking, about how she was nothing like her family. Her sisters and brother would joke about how she was two years behind her class in swordplay while the rest of them were exceling their class by two and sometimes three years. They would often tease that she wasn't of their pure heritage and that she was some sort of mutant that would only be useful for experimenting on.
When the silly class was finally over she quickly droped her wooden sword and in its place held a staff which she had gotten from her teacher. She knew the teacher had great favor in her over the other students and that she was far superior in her skills than to the rest of her class. Although she was proud of being so accomplished, she also felt a sense of dismay that the rest of the students wouldn't converse with her, aside from asking her to demonstrate certain spells they didn't understand. She didn't really care to make friends among them, except for the boy. It wasn't really his looks that attracted her to him, but something on a much deeper level that she couldn't put into words yet, but she had a feeling that they would cross paths in an unexpected way.

(OOC) Kinda a rough unedited draft, I thought it'd be cool to establish a kinda mage character conflicting with the character that was established earlier. I didn't really get the sense of what the school was about but if I didn't hit the mark you can always alter some of the stuff I miswrote about it.

OOC: Yeah, I'd hope it's unedited... I can't go publishing that kind of grammar. ;) Yeah, you pretty much fit the kind of school... It's a school to teach adventurer's how to, well, adventure. Your ideas seem to reflect Harry Potter a little bit more than D&D though... Think 16, not 12. Otherwise, my only question is: Who's the guy in yours? Is it my character, or someone else?
